Mr. Mark Sumpter has been named the President of the Boone County Board of Education. He assumes this two year appointment following his recent re-election to the board of education for an additional four year term. He received the Oath of Office from his father, former Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Gary Sumpter. Also pictured is his wife, Mrs. Sherry Sumpter.

Mrs. Sandra Ferrell was named the 2010-2011 Boone County Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Ferrell teaches language arts and advanced placement courses for students at Van Sr. High School. She received $1,000 to be used for classroom instructional materials and technology. She will represent the district at the state competition held in early fall. Pictured with Mrs. Ferrell is Superintendent John Hudson and board of education member, Mr. Joe Tagliente.
